Stephen Hawking was born on Galileo Galilei’s 300th death anniversary.

Stephen Hawking was born into a well-educated household. Both of his parents were Oxford University academics.

Stephen Hawking theorized that black holes emit radiation, which eventually proved correct. This radiation is now termed Hawking radiation.
